On the afternoon of January 15, 2024, the Vietnam Association of Clean Water and Environment, together with Halcom Vietnam Joint Stock Company, held a New Year gathering and networking event.
The gathering was attended by representatives of the National Assembly’s Committee on Science, Technology and Environment (15th National Assembly); the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; the National Assembly Delegation of Binh Dinh Province; the National Assembly Delegation of Binh Duong Province; the National Assembly Delegation of Binh Phuoc Province; and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.
Vietnam Association of Clean Water and Environment and Halcom Vietnam Hold New Year Gathering
In 2023, Vietnam’s socio-economic situation faced numerous challenges due to the impact of the global economy, as well as various subjective and objective factors at home. Environmental pollution and climate change continued to develop in complex and, in some areas, serious ways. Against this backdrop, the Vietnam Association of Clean Water and Environment overcame difficulties, promoted solidarity and unity, and closely coordinated with its provincial-level member associations and affiliated organizations. As a result, the Association achieved significant results in its activities.
Delegates at the gathering
The development of a carbon market is considered an effective and feasible resource for helping Vietnam achieve its goal of becoming a high-income country by 2045 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. In this spirit, the Vietnam Association of Clean Water and Environment submitted a document to the Prime Minister proposing policies and strategies to achieve the net-zero emissions target by 2050. The Association also proposed designating August 14 each year as “Vietnam Water and Environment Day” to honor, encourage, and express gratitude for the contributions and dedication of individuals, organizations, and communities to ensuring water security and protecting the environment. The Association also invited the Prime Minister to attend and deliver a welcoming address at the first “Environmental Contribution Award” ceremony.
The presence of the delegates served as a great source of encouragement and motivation for those working within the Association, inspiring them to continue striving to successfully fulfill their assigned responsibilities
