During November 9–10, 2021, leaders and representatives of Bình Dương Province worked with leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense on COVID-19 prevention and control efforts in the province during the recent period and planned activities for the coming period.

Ministry of Public Security Holds Working Session with the Bình Dương Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, and National Assembly Delegation

On November 9, 2021, in Hanoi, General Tô Lâm, Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security, chaired a meeting and working session with the delegation of the Bình Dương Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, and National Assembly deputies, led by Nguyễn Văn Lợi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.

Also attending the working session were members of the Central Public Security Party Committee, leaders of the Ministry of Public Security; leaders of the Bình Dương Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee and provincial National Assembly deputies; representatives of several units under the Ministry of Public Security; and leaders of several departments, committees, and sectors of Bình Dương Province.

On behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security, and all generals and officers of the People’s Public Security Forces, Minister Tô Lâm expressed his sympathy for the losses and difficulties that the authorities and people of Bình Dương Province have been striving to overcome amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed his delight that the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Bình Dương Province have basically brought the COVID-19 situation under control.

The Ministry of Public Security deployed more than 2,000 officers, soldiers, medical doctors, nurses, and trainees from People’s Public Security Forces (CAND) academies to coordinate in COVID-19 prevention and control efforts in Bình Dương Province. These efforts helped strengthen and reinforce social distancing measures and gradually establish safe “green zones” across the province. At the same time, the Ministry organized public awareness campaigns and mobilized support, actively assisting workers and laborers facing difficult circumstances in the province; and supporting people wishing to return to their localities while ensuring security and public order and preventing and controlling the pandemic.

Minister Tô Lâm emphasized that, amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the People’s Public Security Forces had proactively and promptly translated the directions of the Party, State, Government, Prime Minister, and National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control into concrete actions; resolutely implemented pandemic prevention and control measures, ensured security, public order, and social safety, and safeguarded peace for the people, particularly in southern provinces and cities, including Bình Dương Province.

Speaking at the working session, Comrade Nguyễn Văn Lợi, Secretary of the Bình Dương Provincial Party Committee, expressed his gratitude for the attention, timely support, and assistance provided by the People’s Public Security Forces to Bình Dương Province during the COVID-19 prevention and control efforts. He also highly appreciated the forces’ sense of responsibility, dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to serving the people; as well as their flexibility and creativity in their approaches and methods, which contributed to helping the authorities and people of Bình Dương overcome the difficult period they had recently faced.

Comrade Nguyễn Văn Lợi added that Bình Dương Province continues to steadfastly pursue the dual objectives of both preventing and controlling the pandemic and developing the economy and restoring production. He expressed his hope that the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership would continue to pay attention to, coordinate with, and support the authorities and people of Bình Dương in COVID-19 prevention and control under the new approach, ensuring safe and flexible adaptation and effective control of COVID-19, thereby contributing to accelerating the recovery and development of the local socio-economic situation.

Minister Tô Lâm expressed his gratitude for the sentiments of the leaders of the Bình Dương Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, and provincial National Assembly deputies toward the People’s Public Security Forces in general and the Bình Dương Provincial Police in particular. Minister Tô Lâm requested the Bình Dương Provincial Police to continue seriously and effectively implementing the directions of the Party Central Committee, the Government, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Bình Dương provincial leadership on maintaining security and public order and preventing and controlling the pandemic under conditions of safe and flexible adaptation and effective control of COVID-19. The Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security would prioritize and promote the effective application of scientific and technological achievements based on the National Population Database, contributing to effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic, accelerating the implementation of social security support programs in the province, and creating favorable conditions for businesses and people to stabilize and develop the economy.

Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Bình Dương Provincial Party Committee Hold Working Session to Discuss the Results of Coordination in COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Bình Dương Province

On the afternoon of November 10, General Phan Văn Giang, Politburo Member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense, and Comrade Nguyễn Văn Lợi, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Bình Dương Provincial Party Committee, co-chaired the working session.

Attending the working session from the Ministry of National Defense were: Senior Lieutenant General Nguyễn Tân Cương, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Vũ Hải Sản, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Đỗ Căn, Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs; Lieutenant General Ngô Minh Tiến, Deputy Chief of the General Staff; leaders of the General Department of Logistics and functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense.

From Bình Dương Province, attendees included Comrade Võ Văn Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; representatives of provincial agencies, departments, sectors, and mass organizations. At the working session, Secretary Nguyen Van Loi said that Binh Duong was one of the localities severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, thanks to the comprehensive, coordinated and decisive implementation of various measures, Covid-19 prevention and control efforts have initially achieved positive results. At present, public awareness of Covid-19 prevention and control, as well as experience in managing the prevention and control of the pandemic and treating Covid-19 patients, has continued to improve. Approximately 90% of Binh Duong’s population has received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, of whom 70% have received the second dose. 90% of businesses have resumed production, while 70% of workers have returned to work. The province’s socio-economic targets have continued to meet or exceed the set targets.

According to the Secretary of the Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, these results were achieved not only through the efforts of the local Party committees, authorities and people, but also thanks to the great support and assistance from people across the country, including the timely, dedicated and meaningful contributions and assistance of the Ministry of National Defence and military officers and soldiers.

Over the past period, the Ministry of National Defence deployed more than 5,000 officers and soldiers to support Binh Duong, including approximately 1,000 doctors, nurses and medical personnel; established two field hospitals for infectious diseases; provided two mobile Covid-19 testing vehicles, 15 ambulances and various essential goods and necessities; while also suppo

rting the province in maintaining security and public order and ensuring social welfare.

Comrade Nguyễn Van Loi affirmed that, during the recent outbreak, it is impossible to fully recount the contributions and sacrifices made by the military to Bình Dương Province. The outbreak also made the image of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” even more familiar and endearing to people from all walks of life in the province. On behalf of the Party Committee, authorities and people of Bình Dương Province, Comrade Nguyễn Van Loi expressed his most sincere and profound thanks to the leaders of the Ministry of National Defence and military officers and soldiers, especially those directly deployed to support and assist Bình Dương in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang congratulated the Party Committee, authorities and people of Bình Dương on the initial results achieved in the recent Covid-19 prevention and control campaign, as well as the results of the economic production recovery process. The Minister of National Defence said that, over the past period, the Ministry of National Defence had directed its units, including Military Region 7, Military Region 9 and Army Corps 4, to regularly closely monitor and promptly report on the situation and needs of localities, including Bình Dương Province, so that the Ministry of National Defence could develop timely and effective plans to provide support and assistance for Covid-19 prevention and control. Some equipment, notably mobile Covid-19 testing vehicles, had just been successfully researched, designed and manufactured by the military and were immediately deployed to Bình Dương to support Covid-19 prevention and control efforts.

Along with sharing information on the military’s current Covid-19 prevention and control efforts, General Phan Van Giang expressed his wish that Bình Dương Province and the Ministry of National Defence continue to maintain regular information exchanges in order to develop timely and effective plans and measures for Covid-19 prevention and control. The Minister of National Defence thanked the leaders, authorities at all levels, sectors and people of Bình Dương Province for creating favourable conditions, coordinating with, supporting and promptly assisting military forces during the prevention and control of Covid-19 in the locality; at the same time, he said that the meeting provided an opportunity for the military to draw further lessons and improve the effectiveness of coordination with localities in carrying out assigned tasks, including Covid-19 prevention and control.
