Amid increasingly urgent demands for innovation, creativity, and the removal of institutional bottlenecks, the development of sufficiently strong mechanisms to encourage and protect officials who dare to think, dare to act, and dare to take responsibility for the common good has attracted widespread public attention.
Recently, the People’s Security Television (ANTV) addressed this issue in an article titled “Creating a Strong Legal Framework to Protect Officials Who Dare to Think and Act,” in the context of the National Assembly Standing Committee giving its opinions on a draft Resolution concerning special mechanisms and policies for handling violations of law in the fields of economics, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan – a Member of the 15th National Assembly, Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halcom Vietnam – offered a noteworthy perspective on the need to prevent corruption and negative practices while creating a safe legal environment for officials performing public duties.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan, prevention is one of the important solutions to protecting officials. It is necessary to develop a code of conduct based on integrity standards for public agencies, businesses, and socio-professional organizations, thereby helping officials clearly identify the boundaries in carrying out their duties.
In addition, he emphasized the importance of ensuring appropriate remuneration for cadres and civil servants, while persistently raising society-wide awareness of corruption and negative-practice prevention and control. This is not solely the responsibility of any one agency or group of people, but requires the participation of the entire society.
