On August 26, 2026, in Hanoi, the Institute of Technology and Business Innovation under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in cooperation with 247Express Joint Stock Company, organized the seminar “CBAM, ESG and Global Green Standards Pressures – Solutions to Enhance the Competitiveness of Industrial Park Enterprises”. The seminar focused on analyzing new requirements from international markets, while proposing solutions to help businesses adapt to green standards, enhance their competitiveness, and participate more deeply in global supply chains.
Experts noted that, amid increasing pressure from CBAM, ESG, and increasingly stringent standards on emissions, the environment, and governance, the green transition is no longer merely a compliance requirement but has become a decisive factor in market access and maintaining competitive advantages. Businesses are encouraged to proactively conduct emissions inventories, standardize carbon data, strengthen digital transformation, use renewable energy, and develop emissions reduction roadmaps appropriate to their scale, industry, and available resources.
Notably, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan, Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halcom Vietnam, pointed out four major gaps in ESG implementation, including: the lack of a unified institutional framework; the absence of criteria tailored to the characteristics of each industry; the lack of synchronized systems for measuring, verifying, and monitoring data; as well as limitations in human resources, technology, consulting services, and financial support for businesses.
Based on these gaps, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan emphasized that ESG should be integrated into corporate strategy and governance operations, rather than being implemented merely to complete documentation or meet short-term requirements from partners. This perspective highlights the need for businesses to shift from a reactive approach to a proactive one, viewing ESG and the green transition as integral parts of their long-term development strategy.
In addition to ESG, the seminar also emphasized the role of data, digital transformation, and renewable energy. Connecting CBAM data with production, energy, raw materials, procurement, and finance will help businesses measure, manage, and demonstrate the results of their green transition. At the same time, strengthening cooperation with industrial parks, financial institutions, technology providers, and partners across the supply chain will create additional resources for businesses to implement the green transition effectively and sustainably.
