In an interview with Industry and Trade Newspaper published on 25 October, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan—Member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halcom Vietnam JSC—emphasized the pivotal role of the environmental industry in advancing Vietnam’s transition toward a green and sustainable economy.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan, the environmental industry should not be viewed merely as a sector that supports waste treatment. Instead, it should be recognized as an independent economic sector capable of making a direct contribution to GDP growth while creating green jobs. To achieve this goal, Vietnam needs to strengthen its legal framework, introduce investment incentive mechanisms, accelerate the adoption of advanced science and technology, and encourage domestic enterprises to participate more deeply in global value chains.
Mr. Huan also stressed that, to achieve sustainable development, Vietnam must foster a robust environmental business ecosystem, develop a carbon credit market, and promote circular economy models. In addition, he emphasized the need for policies that support research and innovation, cultivate a highly skilled workforce, and strengthen international cooperation in the environmental sector.
