On the morning of November 12, the National Assembly continued its question-and-answer session, with deputies raising questions on healthcare and the third group of issues concerning the information and communications sector. Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung responded to the deputies’ questions.
During the question-and-answer session, National Assembly Deputy Nguyen Quang Huan of the Binh Duong delegation asked whether the Ministry of Information and Communications should coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training and other ministries and agencies to study the possibility of introducing the digital economy and digital technology as subjects in the general education curriculum.

Responding to the question, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that many researchers believe “the greatest migration in human history is the migration from the physical world to the digital world.” This raises the question of whether digital skills, as well as knowledge of the digital economy and digital society, should be incorporated into the general education curriculum. The minister said that after discussing the matter with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Prime Minister agreed that this would be “highly advisable.”
“We have already introduced computer science into the general education curriculum, and this subject could be upgraded. Children also need to be exposed to these concepts from an early age. Relevant ministries and agencies will work together to upgrade computer science education, including incorporating digital skills into the subject. Digital technology represents the next stage of information technology and is revolutionary, driving a revolution in digital transformation,” he said.
Therefore, under the direction of the Prime Minister, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that the Ministry of Information and Communications would upgrade computer science education by incorporating digital skills into the curriculum and potentially increasing the amount of time allocated to the subject.
