The special radio program “The National Assembly of Vietnam: 80 Years of Accompanying the Nation“, produced by Voice of Vietnam (VOV), commemorates the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s first General Election (January 6, 1946 – January 6, 2026). This historic milestone marked the birth of the first National Assembly, affirmed the people’s right to self-governance, and laid the foundation for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
The program looks back on the 80-year journey of the National Assembly of Vietnam—the country’s highest representative body of the people, reflecting the nation’s aspirations, will, and vision for development throughout different historical periods. From the years of resistance and national liberation to the era of renewal (Đổi Mới) and international integration, the National Assembly has stood alongside the nation in making major policy decisions, contributing to institutional reform, socio-economic development, and the safeguarding of national sovereignty.
Among the program’s featured guests was Nguyễn Quang Huân, Member of the 15th National Assembly and Chairman of the Board of Directors of HALCOM Vietnam. During the discussion, he shared insightful perspectives on the role and responsibilities of the National Assembly in the current context, emphasizing the need to innovate legislative thinking, strengthen oversight, and enhance decision-making on issues of national importance in order to meet the growing expectations of voters and the Vietnamese people.
