On the morning of May 12, 2022, the Standing Committee of Vietnam Association for Clean Water and Environment (AWATEN) solemnly held the opening ceremony of the new transaction office located at 9th Floor, No. 98, Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi City.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Ta Dinh Thi – Member of the 15th National Assembly’s Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, Ms. Tran Thi Hong Anh – Chief of the Office of the Party Committee (Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations), Mr. Giang Duc Chung – Deputy Director of Personnel and Organization Department (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), Ms. Pham Nhu Quynh – Department of NGOs (Ministry of Home Affairs); Ms. Nguyen Thi Dao – Chief of Office, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association.
Among the AWATEN members, there were Mr. Nguyen Linh Ngoc – Chairman of the Association; Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan – Member of the 15th National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halcom Vietnam Joint Stock Company; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Lai – General Secretary of the Association; Ms. Pham Thi Xuan – Vice Chairman of the Association; Mr. Nguyen Van Toan – Vice Chairman of the Association, Editor-in-Chief of Magazine on Environment and Life; Mr. Nguyen Van Thang – Vice Chairman of the Association, Chairman of the Management Council – Vietnam Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation Foundation; Mr. Le Hung Anh – Vice Chairman of the Association, Head of Representative Office of the Association in Ho Chi Minh City; along with other representatives from the Association’s Departments and Offices.
AWATEN is a voluntary professional-social organization of people interested in clean water and environment work. The Association was established 20 years ago, in June 2002. AWATEN is currently a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.
After 20 years of operation of various development stages. Under the direct direction of the Association’s President up to now, with the involvement of Halcom Vietnam Joint Stock Company and the Association’s members, the office has been moved to a new spacious, professional office, which is stable and will create a momentum for the Association’s growth in the following years.
Mr. Giang Duc Chung – Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment – highly appreciated the role of Vietnam Association for Clean Water and Environment in contributing, advising and criticizing policies of the natural resources and environment sector so that policies can reach our people and agencies. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is the state management agency for AWATEN. The Ministry is also very interested in AWATEN activities, hoping that in the next mid-term congress for updating the Association’s charter, AWATEN will thoroughly study regulations and laws on natural resources and environment to put into the Association’s charter and continue to closely coordinate with the Ministry in policy criticism to ensure the State’s policies are effective for the people.
At the ceremony, Ms. Pham Nhu Quynh – Department of NGOs, Ministry of Home Affairs – sent from her Department leaders’ commendation to the Association’s leaders. She also said that in the past 20 years, AWATEN has made great efforts and unition, and overcame difficulties to pursue their development. It is a pleasure for the Association to own such a newly spacious, clean and beautiful workplace. In the upcoming time, AWATEN is planning to hold a mid-term congress to update the Association’s charter. It is recommended that the leaders thoroughly research on the activities to stick with the realities to better serve the society.
Also in the ceremony, AWATEN’s leaders awarded the Appointment Decision for Mr. Le Hung Anh to hold the position of the Association’s Vice President, awarded the Decision to establish a Representative Office of the Vietnam Association for Clean Water and Environment in Ho Chi Minh City, and awarded the Decision to establish the Legal Institute, Water Resources and Environment Protection.
