The accumulation of waste in major urban areas, particularly after the Lunar New Year holiday, continues to be a pressing concern due to the severe environmental pollution it causes. Nguyễn Quang Huân, Member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Board of Directors of HALCOM Vietnam, shared his views on this issue during VTV1’s “Today’s Issue” program, broadcast on the evening of February 25.
The program focused on analyzing the current state of urban waste accumulation and its serious impacts on the living environment and public health. It also examined the root causes of the problem, ranging from waste collection and treatment to shortcomings in the existing management framework.
During the discussion, Mr. Nguyễn Quang Huân emphasized the need for comprehensive, long-term solutions. He highlighted the importance of adopting modern waste treatment technologies tailored to local conditions, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into waste management, improving policy frameworks, and strengthening the accountability of local authorities.
According to Mr. Huân, addressing the waste issue should not be limited to solving immediate problems but must also contribute to sustainable development and environmental protection for future generations.
