From January 1, 2025, under the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection, residents are required to classify waste at source before disposal. However, in reality, in Hanoi as well as many other localities, this practice has yet to be implemented on a large scale.
In some places, although residents have made efforts to sort waste at home, after classification, all types of waste are still collected together in the same bags or containers as before. This shows that the waste management process, from households to collection, transportation, and treatment stages, has not yet seen significant changes in many localities.
