[VTV1 – Vietnam Television] Today’s Issue: Responsibility for Waste Sorting

In just two weeks, source waste sorting will officially become a mandatory requirement in all localities nationwide. Administrative fines of up to VND 1 million will be imposed on individuals who fail to comply.

However, the question remains: who will supervise and who will impose penalties? If residents sort their waste at source, will collection workers properly separate recyclable waste, organic waste, and other types of solid waste? How will post-collection treatment be handled when landfilling and incineration are still common practices?

These were the key issues discussed during the live broadcast of the program “Today’s Issue” on VTV1 on December 12. The program’s guest, National Assembly Deputy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halcom Vietnam JSC Nguyễn Quang Huân, shared his perspectives on these topics.
