Embracing Private Sector as Driving Force of The Economy

Vietnam’s economic growth indicates a sluggish rate resulting from multiple difficulties and challenges. In the first quarter of this year, the economic growth rate was 3.32%, only 0.11% higher than that at the time of the Covid-19 outbreak. This cries a distressing signal while the Vietnamese economy is currently suffering from no shocks.

Halcom Vietnam’s expert taking technical mission trip of Dynamic Cities Integrated Development Project

From 20-27 March 2023, World Bank has deputed a Technical Mission Team to expedite the Dynamic Cities Integrated Development Project in Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, Yen Bai and Hai Duong Provinces. The representative of Halcom Vietnam Joint Stock Company, a supervision consultant for environmental independent monitoring and resettlement for the Sub-project in Hai Duong City, also partook in the mission trip on 22 March 2023.

Policies and laws on energy development: In need of a comprehensive outlook

In “The implementation of policies and laws on energy development during the 2016 – 2021 period: Status quo and solutions”, the Conference organized by the Thematic Supervisory Delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee, experts suggested that a comprehensive outlook is required when formulating an energy development policy. Instead of focusing on the investment cost and the selling price, we should consider the benefits of using advanced technologies as well.

VNEWS 22/03/2023: Risk Of Missing Clean Water Deadline

Given the average quantity of surface water per capita per year only reaching 3,840 m3/person/year, lower than the target of 4,000 m3/person/year, Vietnam is currently classified as a country threatened with water shortage, according to the International Water Resources Association. Notably, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the quantity of surface water per capita in Vietnam will be only 2,830 m3/person/year by 2025, and without effective policies in the next 50 years, Vietnam will suffer from severe water shortage, even though it is a country bestowed with a dense river network, including ample surface and groundwater resources.

On February 11, 2023, the consultant team of Halcom Vietnam Joint Stock Company had held a meeting with the Department of Irrigation – Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, to finalize the second fieldwork of the contract “Independent social safeguard monitoring”, under the project “Sustainable Rural Infrastructure and Watershed Management Sector Project”, granted by ADB to Lao PDR.
