From November 22 to November 26, 2021, the independent environmental and social monitoring consulting team – Halcom Vietnam JSC. conducted the fourth periodic monitoring mission on environmental safety issues. and society for the Project on Sustainable Environment in Coastal Cities – Quy Nhon City Subproject.
Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project – Quy Nhon City Sub-project is sponsored by the World Bank (WB) with a total capital of 55.31 million USD, invested and constructed by Project Management Unit of Construction Investment of civil and industrial projects from 2018 to 2020, is being implemented on schedule with the bidding packages to build a Y bridge and Huynh Tan Phat bridge, box culverts to replace Phu Hoa open canal, Long My leachate treatment cluster, school toilets. In phase 2 (2020 – 2022), the project continues to implement 6 construction work packages: Renovating common sewers at upstream of Bau Sen lake and Bach Dang street; constructing box culverts in Ba Bep canal area; expanding and raising the capacity of Nhon Binh wastewater treatment plant to 28,000 m3/day; expanding Long My solid waste landfill, etc.
After the trip, the consultants concluded that the project is following WB’s regulations on environmental and social safety. During the trip, the consultants also discussed with experts in charge of safety issues for construction monitoring consulting, safety issues that need to be noted and overcome of the project in the near future.
Long My leachate treatment zone with a capacity of 400 m3/day was invested with loans from the Sustainable Environment Project for Coastal Cities – Quy Nhon City Subproject
