After two renewable energy projects (Phuong Mai 3 wind power project in Binh Dinh and Hau Giang solar power project) came into stable operation in 2020, Halcom Vietnam JSC. has been doing research and deploying investment projects in this field of clean energy.
Quang Binh offshore wind power project in Ngu Thuy Trung commune, Le Thuy district, covers an area of more than 780 hectares. The project total investment is nearly VND 7,000 billion, 50 turbines are expected to reach a capacity of 200MW, the estimated output is 315,360 MWh/year. When completed, this project will be the first offshore wind power project in the province to come into operation. The wind measurement survey has been completed and the project is waiting for submission to PDP VIII.
Approved by Quang Binh PPC on conducting survey, investigation in accordance with document 3525/VPUBND-KT since September 2019, Halcom the Investor installed 1 met mast in the commune of the project. According to the wind measurement data, this location has a huge wind potential (6.2m/s at 102m), which ensures the feasibility and high economic efficiency. As in the Investor’s plan, the construction commencement starts in Q1/2022 and connects to the national grid by the end of 2023.

This offshore wind power project invested by Halcom Vietnam will exploit all Quang Binh potential in wind energy, long coastline (~115km) and contribute to the power source of the province in particular and Vietnam in general. This is a clean power project with no gas emission, no environmental pollution. When the project comes into operation, this will also become a tourist destination aside from cultural and historical monuments with a lot of tourists. This helps contributing to the development of Le Thuy commune in particular and Quang Binh province in general, which creates a new and energetic face of Quang Binh.
