On March 12, 2021, the Hau Giang Solar Power Plant, invested by Halcom Vietnam, was officially inaugurated in Hoa An commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province. The ceremony was attended by Mr.Tran Thanh Man, Member of Politburo, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Fatherland Front; Mr.Pham Gia Tuc, Member of Party Central Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs; Mr.Le Tien Chau, Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hau Giang Province; Mr.Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Chairman of PPC; representatives of related local departments; Halcom Vietnam Board of Management; partners and customers, together with the local civilians.
The plant has the capacity of 35 MWp and produce about 50,800 MWh per annum. This is the first solar power operation in Hau Giang, contributing to the efficient exploitation of the provincial solar radiation potential and in line with the development strategy of renewable energy in Vietnam, as well as general planning for solar power in the province. The construction of the plant was commenced in June 2020 and completed after six months. The plant officially achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) on December 26, 2020. The project covers an area of 33 hectares, including 79,000 solar panels, control room, transformer station and the 110 kV line connecting Vi Thanh – Long My with the length of 6.83 km passing through the area of Hoa An, Long Binh communes and Vinh Tuong ward in Phung Hiep district and Long My town. Total investment fund is 700 billion dongs. The annual revenue of the plant is about 80 billion dongs. Hau Giang Solar Power Plant is the Company’s next successful step in creating the clean energy for sustainable development, targeting to the total renewable energy capacity of 300-500MW by 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan, Chairman of Halcom Vietnam, said, “The success of Hau Giang Solar Power Plant was achieved thanks to the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People’s Committee, local departments as well as authorities at all levels and especially the support of civilians in the 3 communes and ward of the project. This is just the start of a long term and sustainable investment by Halcom in the province. Recently, we’ve got the approval from Hau Giang People’s Committee to expand the Hau Giang Solar Power Plant Phase II with the capacity of 40MWp in order to maximize the effectiveness of available infrastructure. In addition, as per our sustainable development strategy, we would like to invest in more sectors such as infrastructure, urban, water supply and drainage, and other sectors in the circulating economy. Thus, we can contribute more to the overall development of the province, making Hau Giang a destination for investors and gradually become a model province of sustainable development in this beautiful Hau river area.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of Hau Giang People’s Committee, affirmed: “During operation, the plant will create jobs, contribute to the tax revenue and socio-economic development of the province. The project utilizes solar energy, thus it is very meaningful in using renewable energy, protecting the environment and natural resources. The solar power development is in accordance with the socio-economic development orientation of Hau Giang province in the period of 2020-2025 determined in the Resolution of the 14th Provincial Party Congress. The plant investor is suggested to put the project and the capital fund into effective operation, use local labors; contributing to the local budget and actively implementing social security activities in the province. During business operation, if facing any arising issue related to the provincial responsibility, the investor can proactively raise opinions to the Provincial People’s Committee. We commit to actively support and promptly remove difficulties for the investor, creating the best conditions for the project to operate effectively.”
Mr. Tran Thanh Man suggested that the locality and investor should pay attention to the combination between renewable energy development and ecotourism to maximize the economic efficiency on the same land area. On this occasion, Mr. Man also presented 50 gifts to poor households in the project area.
The Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front granted 50 gift sets to the civilians of the project area.
