Chairman of Halcom VN shares experiences at the 3rd “Vietnam Onshore and Offshore Wind Summit 2020”

On October 20-21, 2020, the 3rd Vietnam Onshore and Offshore Wind Summit 2020 took place in Ho Chi Minh city, focusing on prospects, opportunities and challenges of the wind power industry in Vietnam, together with optimal solutions for sustainable energy development. Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan, Chairman of Halcom Vietnam, attended as one of the key speakers in the summit.

At the summit, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan shared key lessons learned to successfully develop and finance onshore wind project in Vietnam, from Halcom’s Phuong Mai 3 wind power project execution in Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh. These are practical experience sharing from project approval and permit, financing, to solving problems arising in the process of working and cooperating with domestic contractors and foreign turbin supplier, unavailability of component replacement, project management consultant issues, etc. These are considered practical and useful lessons for all participants including investors, domestic and international wind power project owners. 

The 3rd VOOW 2020 took place at Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81, HCMC.

Renewable energy is currently the interest of many local and international investors. Phuong Mai 3 is the first project of Halcom Vietnam in this field with professional investment, consulted and constructed by international leading contractors. AIF Group (Laos) and Shizen Energy Group (Japan) are the two strategic partners of the project. The plant will supply over 70 millions kwh to the national electrical grid per year, reduce the emission of 50,000 tons of CO2 per year. This is the first wind farm operation in Binh Dinh province. The plant achieved COD in Q1.2020 with the estimated annual revenue of 140 billion dongs.

Renewable energy investment is the strategic business of Halcom Vietnam Jsc. The Company sets the goal of achieving 300MW RE capacity in 3-5 years. The Company is constructing a solar power plant in Hau Giang with the capacity of 35 MWp, expected to achieve COD by December, 2020.
