[Do you know?] The Largest Solar Plant In The World

Located in the arid region with infertile soils, scorching temperatures and frequent wind storms of Rajasthan, the Bhadla Solar Park is the largest solar park in the world with the total capacity of 2,245 MW, becoming a shining example of India’s commitment to sustainable energy.

The construction of the Bhadla Solar Park was initiated by the Indian government in 2015, as part of the country’s ambitious National Solar Mission, aiming to achieve 100 GW of solar energy capacity by 2022. In its quest to become one of the world’s leading solar power producers, India chose the Thar desert in the North West Rajasthan as the construction site for the abundance of open space and sunshine.

Overview of the Bhadla Solar Park

The Bhadla Solar Park covers an area of approximately 14,000, winning hearts by bringing various benefits to India. It helps the country create about 10,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and operation, improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply in the region, reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and avoid about 4 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

In 2019, the Park won the prestigious Skoch Award for National Significance in the field of renewable energy. The award recognized the Park’s innovative design, efficient technology, and positive impact on the environment and local communities.

Despite many challenges such as the intermittency of solar power, the need for storage facilities and huge cost of solar power, the Bhadla Solar Park has shown that investing in renewable energy is not only beneficial for the environment but also for economic growth and job creation.

Its success story has become a source of inspiration for other countries seeking to transition to a low-carbon economy.

In Vietnam, Halcom is proud to have Hau Giang Solar Plant, the first solar plant project put into operation in the province, providing electricity for the whole town of Long My and Long My district, contributing to local socio-economic development.
