Halcom Vietnam Companioned with “Godmother” Program to Support Disadvantaged Children Orphaned by Covid-19

On June 26, 2022, at Binh Duong Convention & Exhibition Center, the Provincial People’s Committee cooperated with the Central Vietnam Women’s Union to organize the program “Godmother – Love and share” on the occasion of the 21st celebration of Vietnamese Family Day June 28. This is a program to mobilize resources to help children orphaned by Covid-19; express the honor and gratefulness for philanthropists, organizations and enterprises accompanying the program, including Halcom Vietnam Joint Stock Company.

Attending the event were Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, former Member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the State; Ms. Ha Thi Nga, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU). On the side of Binh Duong province, there were Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Ms. Nguyen Minh Thuy, Standing Member, Head of the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee; Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Standing Member, Head of Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee.

“Godmother” program was launched by the Central Vietnam Women’s Union from the end of 2021. After 8 months of implementation, all levels of the Union from central to local have mobilized, connected, supported and pledged to be the godmothers of 10,774 orphans in difficult circumstances, including over 2,000 orphaned by Covid-19. In response to the humane message “No orphan left behind”, Halcom Vietnam Joint Stock Company has donated 50 million VND to the event. Mr. Vo Tien Dung, Deputy General Director, representative of the Company, expressed that the expectation of Halcom Vietnam is to share and help children suffering from pain and disadvantage due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so that they can have a peaceful life and a comprehensive development in families and community like their peers.

At the evening event on June 26, the delegates reviewed the results of “Godmother” through the reportage “Godmother’s imprint”, “The connection journey of the Ede godmother and child”, “Kind-hearted mothers”, “Mothers of many children”; Exchange with the godmothers and the children; Watching ao dai performances of mothers and children; giving gifts to mother-kid pairs and expressing their gratitude to the organizations accompanying the program.

Ms. Ha Thi Nga has called on organizations and individuals to continue extending their loving arms as the program’s companion, so that disadvantaged and orphaned children can fully grow in families and communities like others: “Let’s spread the message together: No orphans left behind. Let’s take action for a happy, bright future for them.”

Artist Quyen Linh, the event’s ambassador, was touched when talking about the severity of the Covid-19 pandemic and the companionship and care of the whole society for the children. The program was broadcast live on Binh Duong Televsision.
